Super Tubing is one of the newest adventure leisure experiences in the UK and the Supertubing experience at the Festival Park in Ebbw Vale, managed by Planning Solutions Ltd, is the longest in the country. Customers sit on a reinforced inflatable tube which is pushed or spun from the top level of the ride created from a special Snowflex material. Planning Solutions were approached by local action group made up of business, education and political representatives and the site owners Molson Coors. Their objective was to re-open the Molson Coors Visitor Centre (formerly the Bass Museum) that had been closed in 2008, after suffering several years of falling visitor numbers and consequent operational losses.
Planning Solutions have been managing CONKERS, an environmentally themed visitor attraction, on behalf of The National Forest Charitable Trust, since 2001. Planning Solutions researched a variety of product development opportunities and concluded that a High & Low Aerial Adventure Course would provide the exciting experience necessary to attract these new audiences – and provide a positive return on investment. The new product was also sufficiently different to the traditional CONKERS’ offer that, it was felt it could be charged for as a separate ‘add on adventure’ in addition to the standard day visit ticket price.
